Three water shots

While waiting for repair of WilcePhotos

Heard of Waiting for Godot? This is waiting for phoTO. (Never could resist word play.) WilcePhotos.com is experiencing technical difficulties. I hope it will be up and running by Monday 4/27/26.

Three water-themed photos. Two of large bodies of water— waterscape photographs. One of a small pond with a beautiful duck.

The photograph below comes from a marvelous few days in Juneau, Alaska, August 2025.

Shooting “couplings” or paired entities is my thing, so of course I try in the shot below to offer you the Gastineau Channel AND a beautiful flower on the shore.

What does it mean for the next photograph to be captioned “flight deck”? Well, that is the name people use for large viewing structure adjacent to one of the largest lakes in Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Area. But the flight is about the breathtaking take-offs of birds in the lake!

Breathtaking takeoff shots are available to enjoy on WilcePhotos— or soon will be.

In addition to water and sunset, note the two snags in the lake. Please visit an earlier post on OutdoorsWithCamera.

What a surprise when a fellow visitor to Frances Short Pond asked, “Have you seen the Wood Duck?” I had NOT! This duck let me take dozens of photos of him (male duck, a “drake”). Think water is not a theme in the photo below? Try telling that to the drake!

You’ll see more of him when WilcePhotos is back up!
