The Colorado River has been dammed several times. I recently visited the region largely defined by Glen Canyon Dam, which formed Lake Powell and today is part of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. But for at least 190 million years, natural forces formed slot canyons.
The photos I have posted thus far (see the link above) reflect tours of the canyons accessed by land and, as a seperate tour and providing totally different views of the canyons, Lake Powell.
